Dr. Lawrence Benjamin is a pharmaceutical and healthcare industry consultant, GxP compliance leader, and AI governance strategist with over 25 years of experience across pharmacovigilance, clinical development, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence. As Founder and Principal Consultant of Sussex Business Solutions Inc., he partners with multinational pharmaceutical, biotech, and CRO organizations to strengthen compliance programs, qualify vendors, govern AI systems, and build inspection-ready operations across FDA, EMA, and Health Canada frameworks.
His consulting practice spans four integrated service areas: GxP vendor qualification and audit excellence, AI governance in regulated environments, operational system transformation, and executive advisory. He has conducted over 50 global GVP and GCP audits and mock inspections and supported clients through 30+ health authority inspections with no critical findings. His Lean Six Sigma-driven process optimization work has delivered 30–50% efficiency improvements in pharmacovigilance operations.
On AI governance, Dr. Benjamin has become a sought-after resource for auditing AI-enabled vendor systems in regulated environments, with repeat engagements from global pharmaceutical sponsors and consulting firms specifically in this capacity. He also holds a U.S. copyright registration for a proposed ICH-style global framework for ethical AI development, which directly informs his advice to executives on AI adoption strategy, risk-based decision-making, and governance framework design.
Before founding Sussex, he held senior-level roles at Cencora and GSK, leading multidisciplinary teams, directing full-service PV programs across 20+ global clients, and implementing validated systems compliant with ICH E6 and FDA 21 CFR Part 11.
Dr. Benjamin holds a DBA in Healthcare Leadership, an MSc in International Management, and a BSc in Biology and Chemistry. He is a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt and completed digital transformation training at MIT Sloan. His doctoral research has been downloaded more than 1,500 times internationally and cited in multiple academic and research papers.
